Product Details
The 9-volt lithium battery powers your Defibtech AED's Active Status Indicator—the system that runs automatic self-tests to ensure your device is always rescue-ready. This battery installs inside the main battery pack and typically lasts about one year when installed in the AED.
While the primary battery powers rescue operations, this 9-volt battery keeps watch behind the scenes, running daily checks so you know your AED is ready when needed.
The 9-volt battery needs replacing every 6-12 months, even though the primary DBP-2800 lasts 7 years. Don't worry—if the 9-volt battery dies, your AED will still work and deliver shocks as long as the primary battery is good.
How to Know When to Replace
Your AED tells you exactly what it needs. If either battery needs replacing, the unit will chirp and the status indicator will flash red instead of green. To find out which battery is the problem:
- Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, then release
- The AED will verbally announce either "replace 9-volt" or "replace battery"
Simple as that—no guesswork, no troubleshooting, just clear guidance on what needs replacing.
